On April 28th, the Argyle Boys Golf Team made school history by becoming the first team to win state.
It was a difficult day to compete. On the second day of the competition, the temperatures changed drastically from a sunny high 80s-degree weather, to a humid and windy 60-degree weather. The forecast that day said the winds were going to be about 25 miles an hour.
But that did not stop the Argyle Boys Golf Team; when the first day ended, the team was in 1st place by 6 shots over Fredericksburg. The second round was led by senior Matt Garnett (77). The boys won this second round with 312 shots, and won the tournament with a total of 612.
Even though the weather conditions did not let the team play at their best, they were still able to bring home the gold. This year, the girls’ team made their first show at the state tournament as well, and they cannot wait until someday they are able to bring home the gold too.
